from a sample
Nose: This is a really fantastic nose. Prunes, purple grapes, apricots for the fruit. There's also a well-balanced mix of earthy notes - nuts, marzipan, graphite, and a drop of floral, like crystallized candied orange blossom. And maybe a touch of orange (drop of the extract) - extremely elegant rancio. This just oozes class and quality.
Palate: Properly sweet on entry, fruit more on grapes, dates, digs, and a lesser amount of prunes and apricot. At the forefront, there's also violet and irises. At the mid-palate, the wood and rancio emerge, along with some almonds, frosting, and stale pecans (it's fab). Great things going on.
Finish: Wood remains and more strongly on purple stone fruit. A little dry and almost a tad mushroomy. It's showing off obvious and well kept age, good lineage, and masterful blending. My only gripe is that this is hard to get in the US. An easy 'A.'
