Nose: A little light and also a hint of spirity alcohol roughness, but there's that really nice olive and rubber quality emerging. Maybe even some cinnamon and brown sugar molasses, but very light. Wood (or sawdust) more essence than substance. For as much as there's a nice base, it somehow manages to burn the nose.
Palate: Honey, caramel, and thin molasses. Vanilla, orange, and a hint of rubber. Slightly numbing, but pretty light and a hint watery. Sort of passes more quickly than I'd like.
Finish: Vague sweetness, and we get a return of old olives, less the saltiness and more sugary residue. If you work for it, you can find the raisiny/pruny goodness at the end, in weak honey. There are some things to really like here, but it's all on the weak side, and the nose is rather rougher than I'd think it should be at 40%.
