I am currently at YYZ (yes, it's also an awesome Rush tune) and took a look round the "duty free" to see what is offered. A 1L bottle of Hennessy XO goes for US$ 280.00 and I recently picked up a 750ml for $180.00 at a state run liquor store in PA.
A 1L of Camus Borderies XO runs US$ 240 and a 750ml sells locally in KY for $150.00.
1L of Remy Martin VSOP is US$ 99.00 and locally for US$ 64.00
In short, for those of you who are flying from YYZ in Toronto into the US, you can save a lot of money by not buying at the duty free inside the airport where (according to my calculations) you are paying a 35% markup.
This is not to say that all duty free shops are the same or that this applies to all spirits in the YYZ duty free shop. I typically search for products (Cognac) I cannot obtain locally or which may be limited to duty free shops. They did have a bottle of Camus Extra, but it was $455 for a 700ml.
Here you can talk about everything!
