Re: Domaine de Miquer 1993, 20 Year Old, 45% Folle Blanche

Hi Dolph, always just happy to post my observations. I hope that you enjoy it when you get around to trying it, and will be curious to see how your impression compares. I got the other Miquer and am curious to see how it is similar and different, but first I've got to close out a few more bottles i...

Re: Armagnac Recommendations?

It's hard to answer a 'worth' question. Which 1984 or 1985? Are these the Folle Blanche or the Cepages Nobles. They're very different animals. At any rate, I think that the vintage Boingneres that I've had have been excellent. Here are my notes for the '85 Cepages Nobles: http://www.thecognacforum....

Re: Domaine de Miquer 1993, 20 Year Old, 45% Folle Blanche

Thanks for the review, Numen. I have this one on deck and it's getting cracked after I clear some more bottles out (I have 4 real nice Armagnacs opened right now). I tend to like a little oak influence so I think Domaine de Miquer 1993 might be in my wheelhouse. I'll report back in about a month or ...

Re: ISO Chateau Laubade Armagnac Cask Strength Vintages

Really jonsing to try some of the cask strength stuff. The wife and I have a tentative trip planned to Europe in the spring and Bordeaux is one of our destinations. A trip to Laubade is in order and some of those bottles will definitely be coming home with me!

Re: Armagnac Recommendations?

I've been sharing the Barailiion and the Lassaubatju with friends and they tend to lean towards the latter. I'm finding that the sweet spot for Armagnac is around the 15-30 range, where it is a bit higher proof (possibly) and not overly tannic. I've got another shipment coming in next week and I'll ...

Re: Armagnac Recommendations?

Yeah - the 96 is 100% Folle Blanche. Too bad you guys don't get it in France - its amazing stuff.

I've found one place online that has the Cask Strength Chateau Laubade vintages (in France):

http://www.stephconti.fr/

Surprisingly, they come in at 42%. That cannot be true cask strength, can it?

Chicago Armagnac Noob

Hey y'all - Brandy noob here (but weathered whiskey traveler). Not a huge cognac fan, but Armagnac is definitely in my wheelhouse. Currently loving the bottles I have open and want to get more involved in the community!

Re: Armagnac Recommendations?

So, I'm new to the forum. I'm primarily a bourbon (and scotch) guy and I troll SB.com quite a bit. Given the crazy market for good bourbon these days, I decided to branch out and buy into some of the Armagnac "hype" that is getting thrown out there. After trying a bunch of K&L bottles,...

Just like the subject line says. I'm interested in the 80s vintages. I'm in the States. Thanks.

Numen - you should try the Binny's Mortlach (21yr). It's sherried, but muted, and has that great meaty Mortlach character. A great value at $90 (on sale right now).
